The sixth gear is only "comfortable" above 70 MPH and the way I look at it is this...
How many times do I cruise above 70 and for how long too?
Your answer would be verified by the cost of the replacement and the answer to the previous questions.
I'm probably of the minority in the 6 speed quest and even the Baker 7 speeds too. I like good acceleration when you need it but 7 speeds? The proper gearing on any bike and set up properly will negate my need for any extra gears in the trans.
Even the HD 6 speed trans isn't a well constructed transmission by any means. The trap door flexes and can be felt in the clutch handle and there are other areas that are NOT up to snuff IMO.
