I just saw this thread... I signed up last year, but have never gone on a ride here in FL. I tried to ask how it works and I received a one line response that said "just show up". I was asking what should be worn (long sleves on bases...) what the requirements are for flag bikes (I have a mount that can hold two large flags mounted to solid 5/8" steel round bar stock) I don't know anyone here in SW FL who attends the events, however I have seen several right in Sarasota, FL...
 
Well "just show up" but you need let a "ride captain" know you're new. They are the ones with burgundy or red hats. You should be able to tell anyone and they'll point out the "boss". Flags are not required but you can have them if you want. It is a pretty loosely organized group. That's why they say "just show up". The only requirement is to show respect.
