"Patriot Guard Riders" (Post in this thread)

Got this yesterday:

Fellow Riders,
It is with a very heavy heart that I must inform you that America has lost another one of her heroes. Ssgt. Christopher L Brown, US Army, has lost his life while defending our freedoms. SSgt. Brown, 26, of Columbus, Ohio, died April 3, in Kunar province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained after he was attacked with an improvised explosive device while on a dismounted patrol.
SSgt Brown's family has asked the Patriot Guard to stand in honor of their loved one.

This will be a two part mission. I will have all of the details prepared by tomorrow evening. But here is what I know at this time:

PART I - Monday
Our hero will be arriving at Mobile Regional Airport on Monday Evening at approx. 7:30pm. We will meet him there and escort him and his family to Jackson Funeral Home in Mobile.

PART II - Wednesday
Wednesday morning we will escort our hero from Jackson Funeral Home in Mobile to Barrancus in Pensacola where we will meet with the Florida PGR to stand in his honor for his burial. His Ceremony at Barrancus will be at 11:45AM

I will have all times, locations, and stagings by tomorrow (Thursday) night and will send out an update email at that time....
Just mark your calendars for Monday Evening and Wednesday Morning.

I am a proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders. We stand for our defenders who stood for US.
I will stand with the Patriot Guard until the day the Patriot Guard stands for me.

It breaks my heart to hear this about our young Americans dying like this. May god bless his family in their hour of mourning.

Redfish-Joe, Dan, and some of the Southern Cruisers participated in this mission which was fully escorted from Mobile to Pensacola NAS Barrancas Cemetery. I want to thank all the riders who honored SSgt. Brown. The job done by the Alabama HP, Mobile Co. Sheriff Dept. and FL HP was outstanding to say the least, top notch.
I was quite moved to see a lot of folks stop their cars, come to attention, and salute SSgt. Brown as the procession passed, I think quite a tribute given to this fallen hero as it should be.

Sad to say but we are having " 2 " K.I.A. 's coming in on Monday.. One comeing in to Dallas and one comeing into Greenville, Tx...One is a North Texas PGR mission and one an East Texas PGR mission..sorry no details...lake..

Don't know why it hasn't already been done but I notice there is(was) no Patriot Guard Riders "social group". So I created one. I see that there are a bunch of us so please feel free to join and maybe even get some discussion going about why you participate in this great organization.:bigsmiley12:

Dear Mr. McKibben, November 01, 2012

When someone has been admitted to hospice care, every patient is asked of any last wishes he or she would like our team to assist them with. That is why I am contacting you, we have a World War II Veteran that has requested to have his U.S. Coast Guard Uniform displayed in the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby. Larry Wert, Special Assistant for Veterans & Military Affairs (Congressman Greg Harper’s office)assisted us with this hero’s request. It is with gratitude to Mr. Wert for his assistance.

Mr. William Barnes, age 92. He was born and raised in Clarksdale, MS. He served during WWII as a deck gunner aboard a U.S. Coast Guard cutter and was credited with shooting down 3 enemy aircraft and assisting in the downing of 2 others. At one time during his wartime service his vessel was adrift in the Sea of Japan for over 60 days. Following the war, Mr. Barnes moved to Jackson, MS, and enjoyed a long and distinguished career with the Mississippi State Tax Commission and retired there as the Director of Revenue. He is widowed and has a son and daughter.

Chad Daniels, Director with the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum and the museums, Arms Conservator, Glenn Husted met with me last Friday to discuss and review Mr. Barnes last request. Mr. Daniels has confirmed November 16, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. for a presentation to honor our military hero! The Mississippi Armed Forces Museum will have a section with Mr. Barnes’ uniform, selected pictures and mementos he has cherished over the years. I can’t say enough kind words about Mr. Daniels and his staff at the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum. All Mississippians should be proud of their accomplishments in preserving the history of our military hero’s!

Mr. McKibben it would mean so much to Mr. Barnes, his family, friends, Gentiva Home Health & Hospice staff and volunteers if you and the Mississippi Patriot Guard could escort Mr. Barnes and his family from to Jackson to Camp Shelby to attend the presentation to honor one of Mississippi’s sons. I look forward to hearing from you and the Patriot Guard and appreciate all you do to for our Veterans!

On behalf of Mr. Barnes, a heartfelt thanks.
