Whatever 3/4 helmet you choose, just make sure it is DOT approved and manufacture date of new helmet is within the model year, as they do have a "shelf life". Some of them ("cheaper polycarbonate type" were found to meet Euro-specs where the shell & liner have the proper amount of "give" to transfer energy over wider area (older and current Snell standards were viewed in racing circles as too tough), making major manufacturers to make the outside and liner very robust, but transfer too much energy to the rider's head.
