The question about oil

I bought HD RK TC88, 2005 years. After driving 1,000 miles mentioned dino oil to synthetic oil Amsoil 20W50, which is available in Poland. I noticed immediately that the engine is louder and louder mountain.
Please tell me why after pouring synthetic oil valves are louder.

1 Does the loud engine means the wear parts in the engine?.
2 Can I use this HD synthetic oil if I have to use mineral oil?.

I have read several posts about increased engine noise after switching to Amsoil. I've also read the same about many other synthetics. The only way to prove it is to go back to a regular oil and see if it reduces the noise. Amsoil is NOT causing more wear to the engine. I don't use it, but it's a quality oil.
 
I have used synthetic oil in My last 4 motorcycles,cars and lawnmowers.Synthetic oil is proven to cause engines to have less wear and oil does not break down as fast as regular oil.I did notice a noise increase with HD SYN3.Noise doesn't bother Me, knowing that synthetic protects My engines better.Try different brands of oil and You may notice less noise.
 
If your changing you oil your self, stay with non syn and do it 3 or 4 thousand miles. If you want to put more miles on between changes do synthetic.

Thank you for your answers, but I still do not know why synthetic oil motors and valves are louder. Which technically makes the noise.
Is Amsoil 20W50 oil is a good oil for only one is available in Poland.
I read on various forums HD that using oil Amsoil people had to rebuild engines or replace the bearings. I have another question as it is with the synthetic oil in the engine and main bearing. I read that the synthetic oil is too slippery and causes stains on the bearing.
Here's my sample of AMS 20W50 on 858mil.
I am interested in this sample the amount of iron=4 and copper = 3, which is only 858mil.

Oil is like a religion, use whatever works the best for you. Synthetic oil has been around for sometime now and used by many without any ill effects. Lots of war stories about different oils and lubes and that's pretty much what they are STORIES!

Much talk about Syn 3 from the Harley dealers. Let's talk a bit about that oil and it's application

SYN3 is a group III synthetic oil.
Group III synthetics are called hydrocracked isodewaxed mineral oil. In english all that means is that it is dino oil that has been super refined to meet the specs of a low grade synthetic. Group III's do exibit some of the qualities of synthetic like more uniform molecules, higher shear resistance to name a few, but will not stand up to the higher temps in todays motors.
I have never used SYN3. It's produced by Citgo, a Valenzuela company who contracts to whatever oil company will make SYN3 and then slap a HD sticker on it.
Harley Davidson is in the business of making money, not oil.

With that said, the synthetics that are also being discussed here, Mobil 1, redline,Royal purple and a few others are group IV Synthetics and contain no mineral oil at all. They are typically PAO's (Polyalfaolifins) and are 100% man made. Therefore they contain no contaminates that are commonly found in petroleum base stocks. Their resistance to thermal breakdown is well recorded and one of the biggest benefits of a synthetic, and also your engine.
Synthetic oil does not burn like a petroleum oil therefore leaves no or little deposits on your internals, also a benefit to your engine. A synthetic oils lubricity is far superior to petroleum oil because of the uniform molecules, so you will have less wear and cooler running temps, usually in the 10*-15* range.
All good reasons to use synthetic oils. If you change your oil as recommended by petroleum oil companies, 2500-3000 miles you are changing the oil after its useful life has ended. That means at least for some period of time, your dino oil was not doing the job it once did when it was new. This is where the benefits of a synthetic come into play. In most cases the wear and tear being caused by spent dino oil will not be realized until you experience a mechanical breakdown. Your engine will run strong, sound fine, even with scored bearings....until they fail. If you can take documented science and apply it, knowing that a synthetic is causing less wear, cooler running conditions, cleaner running conditions and therefore longer engine life, there is no better reason to use a quality synthetic oil.

I also wanted to address the issue of the oil appearing "dirty" quickly. This can be caused by several things. Residual oil in the sump and oil galleries at the time of an oil change, excessive engine wear, blow-by that could be caused by worn or sticking rings, inferior film strength of the lubricating oil on the cylinder walls, dirty or inefficient air filtration. All good reasons to look at a quality synthetic oil to use in your bike.

There are several key advantages to using Synthetic Oils:

Synthetic oils have a higher viscosity index than mineral base oils. Synthetics have better resistance to thinning at high temperatures and thickening at low temperatures. Since synthetics have little or no VIIs, synthetics last longer in service without radical changes in viscosity.

Synthetics have a much higher film strength than petroleum oils, so it takes a lot longer for the oil to drain completely off your bearings and into your sump.


I've read from several members here that have had their synthetic oil tested at labs. Tests showed little breakdown in the oil with 5,000 plus miles.
I would not be afraid to run a good quality synthetic oil to 5,000 mile as oil companies recommend you can run longer.
