Protection bike on open trailer while traveling?

A $100 a day to rent ain't going happen.
I'll be there for 4 weeks. I think I may just trailer it open and wash it as soon as possible. If it's not wraped tight, two and a half days on the road will certainly cause damage on paint somewhere.

I put a deflector on my trailer, much the same as you see on a snowmobile trailer

I have an open trailer but do not have to worry about road salt since we live in the south. Having said that, we have trailered to the mountains, up into north Arkansas, and to Salt Springs, so I've got a few miles under my belt.
Maybe we have been lucky, but we have never had any damage from rocks, road crud, etc., As others have mentioned, I would steer away from covering your bike with anything. Chafe from whatever it's covered with will do a number on the paint, I don't think it can be avoided when you are at highway speeds. JMO
