Oil Change Neeed?

I think you have your answer on the oil change. I just want to say good luck with the back surgery, make sure you have a good neurosurgeon (reputation, experience), take it easy during convalesence and yes, you will ride again.

Like others, I'd ride it on the current oil. If you do make short runs that don't get/keep the oil hot, just pull the dipstick out when you get home. That will let some of the moisture evaporate out of the tank. Don't forget to replace the dipstick after the bike cools down.
