I have good luck with the jack that Harbor Freight sells. I got the aluminum one. I also got the adapter kit from a local HD dealer and it works really well. I have about $175 in the whole works. I probably don't need to, but I also put a tie down strap on it. That way I can shove the bike around on my garage floor.
The adapter kit gets it all level and off the piece that protects the pan and the kickstand.
