EVO Troubleshooting Help Needed

My brother called me this morning.

He has been working on this problem. He replaced parts on the intake seals, and exhaust gaskets, both helped. Then today on his way to work the front clyinder head gasket totally went.

Is he using the torque procedure from the manual and check the case studs they are great for backing out

Jack, You Hit that one on the head.

He did a compression test when he just had the chirp. Both cylinders where with 10% of each other. He told me the numbers but I can't remember. Seemed like around 180. That was before it really let loose.
 
I would have guessed the difference would have been more dramatic and greater than 10% having any size leak at all. I guess maybe not..

Of course a leakdown would have definitely found it but I understand not everyone has a leakdown tester and compressor handy.

The final blow out was nasty.:p
