My softail built with Delkron cases has the crank breather you describe and I have added a crankvent that allows air to escape the crankcase but does not let air back in , I also use the hollow bolts in the heads that vent into the air cleaner. I built this bike from scratch 8 yrs ago and not a single issue ever.
