Battery Tender?

I use the HD "Smart" Battery Tender with the permanently mounted pigtail poking out from under the seat. I work overseas and the bike sits a lot; no problems once I started using it.

I use the Battery Tender Jr - it switches automatically from charge to float, is reverse polarity protected and has a lights to monitor the state of charge/float. I got an extra quick connect cord to leave on my truck, since I use it so little :s

I can't help ya on using the factory charging port, but you don't need to buy a battery tender from HD. Just go to any of the online sellers (j&p cycles, Dennis Kirk, etc) and get the 'Battery Tender'.

I use the 'Battery Tender Jr" on my Deuce. Used on my previous bike as well.
It's now 7 years old and still keeping it charged. If the bike is going to sit for more than a day or two I plug it in to the tender.

I went to my local harley shop and bought thier battery tender was about $25 have been using it on my 2008 crossbones for about 5 months now, has been working fine
