I own a 2002 Glide with no owner's manual. So, why is there an air temperature gauge? Does it register the outside air?
It does but they are usually very inaccurate and a lot of people replace the unit with an oil pressure gauge.
Glider, did you mean an oil temperature gage? My FLHT has both an air temperature and oil pressure gage. I am thinking of replacing the air temperature gage (you are correct, very inaccurate) with an oil temperature gage when I figure out how to do it.

Thanks TQ. Very specific instructions. But I will need to think about that for awhile. Nervous about removing tank and needing to pull the crankcase plug. Looks like several opportunities to get into trouble.
After reading this thread I looked at my air temp gauge a little more closely and noticed it seemed to be off.I was wondering if the temp probe was picking up on engine heat and not just ambient air.You can ride by 15 different banks and get 15 different temps depending on where the probe is mounted on the sign.
