Warranties

Some people have asked what happens to their factory warranty after a dealer upgrade to their engine or bike.
This may give you some insight into the issue.

Most dealers that do an upgrade to a motor will honor the warranty as such because they did the work. The problem may arise when you are at a different dealer looking to have a repair done under the warranty being that they didn't do the work.
It is however at THEIR discretion as to the validity of the warranty after an upgrade and if they choose to walk away, there's really nothing you can do then unfortunately. The warranty covers a motor/bike that was assembled at the factory and once the motor is opened up, it becomes a "prove who/what did the damage" issue.
Most dealers if they are reputable will give you an option of an upgrade of sorts for just the cost of additional parts if a situation arises where a job that they did came apart for some reason to try to mitigate the cost of doing the job over again.
Calling the MOCO will get you the standard reply that " the dealers are an independently owned and operated franchise" that will net you nothing other than more frustration.
One thing however is if there is a problem, they can't just VOID the entire warranty, there is an element of proof as to WHY the problem occurred and who is responsible for any modifications that may have been done and was it related to the problem. In other words if something is modified like an engine and another part breaks say like electrical for example, unless they can say that it was as a result of abuse being the engine power was increased and furnish some reasonable proof , they can't say it's related and deny your coverage.

Here's something to read and possibly copy and save for the future just in case there is a problem and the dealer doesn't want to help or stand behind a repair or modification that they did...
