trouble cranking 2005 rk

Ron, Does a 2005 have a 3 phase stator? If it does, Jack is right. You should have more kick at idle speed....

man i have no clue sorry, i think i remeber when i first put battery in i was getting around 14 volts, something might be wrong with stator

Take a look at the stator wires coming out of the crankcase. You will have either 2 wires or 3 within that group.. Take a look.

Two wires, then your single phase. Now I would place a DC voltmeter across the battery posts and check the DC voltage at 2500 RPM. Get a reading to two places (12.XX). Also get a reading at 1000 RPM. (which should be about your idle speed?)

You should be in the 14's at 2500 RPM. See if you get a healthy reading at 2500 RPM. Something like 14.30 to 14.70 would be nice.

Increasing the RPM above 2500 RPM really should not lift the voltage a whole bunch more. It really should be peaked by 2500 RPM.

i'm getting 12.57 volts at idle, but its like surging, 12.5x to 11.2x back up to 12.5x and back down , like 3 to 5 seconds between them, when running at 2500 rpm

You have problems. Like Jack said earlier, your running off the battery only.

Perform the stand alone voltage output test of the stator. Hopefully, it is just you regulator that is bad.
