besides buying the tool to lock the pully to remove the nut is there any other ways to lock the the pully?

Primary Locking Tool - Archive - Harley Davidson Community I recall there were some industrious guys who even used a 3/8" socket extension, can't remember if it was 6 or 8" or 10" one.
I believe the OP is referring to the transmission output (belt) pulley nut. Not the primary chain compensator nut.
