Tranny Fluid Capacity

According to the service manual for my former bike ('09 Electra Glide Classic) the Transmission Fluid capacity was 32 oz. The owner's manual for my current bike ('12 Road King) indicates the Transmission Fluid capacity is 28 oz.
Has the transmission changed from '09 to '12? I changed the fluid in my Road King last night, and 28 oz. didn't cut it...ended up taking 32 oz. before it indicated full on the dipstick.
Just curious....

I just looked at the owners manual and it does say 28 ounces, but it does have an asterisk that states:

REFILL QTY. *

28 oz 0.83 L

* Approximate. Check and add as needed to bring level within specification.

I like the vagueness of the asterisk. I wonder why that is??? It sounds like Harley is not even sure...
 
My 'take away' from all this is --- It's SAD to think that HD and all their smart engineers and manufacturers, can't even tell an owner what/how much fluid goes into one of their $20+ K bikes!!! This is NOT the first time this question has come up. Either they (HD)do not know OR they just do not have a grasp on the English language in order to TYPE it right in an owner's manual. Geesh!!! Frustrating to say the least!
