Throttle Cable

While cleaning my Sportster tonight I noticed that the throttle cables are lose in the housing right under the bar. Are they supposed to be in the housing tight or loose? Never noticed before and just had my 1000 mile checkup.

The cables are held in the housing with a pressure ring. They aren't tight but if there is slack in the cables then they need to be adjusted.

To remove the cables if need be, slack off the adjusters and you can use a thin blade screwdriver between the housing and the cable end and pop them out.
