starter motor?

So every once in a while i start my bike i get a sound from starter?? that sounds like something is not engaging properly, after 1,2, sometimes 3 attempts, that i immediatly stop cranking the bike will start ok.
So seeing how's i have extended warranty.".07 flhx " i dropped it off and dealer service manager tells me, sounds like starter motor.
Does anyone think or know, as i forgot to ask...will they replace total unit? or replace bad parts? thanks for any thoughts..ryd

Sounds like the typical compensator problem.

Could be starter- ring gear problem, some 07 models had this problem. I got a new clutch and ring gear replaced under warranty, Good Luck
