Sta-bil fuel stabilizer

This might be a dumb question but is sta-bil kind of like a octane booster ? We don't have anything higher than 91 octane around here and just wondered if sta-bil would boost it a little bit .
 
As far as I know, it has no effect on octane. Can you hear knock just prior to the ion-detection kicking in?
 
Thanks glider do you think i should add octane booster or would i be throwing my money away . I don't have any pinging and it seems to run fine .
 
Unless you have a pinging problem or the fuel in your area is sub standard, save your money.
 
First it was 10% ethanol, now it's no more 93 octane? What next.
I refuse to buy an electric Harley:p!
 
I use Duralt fuel conditioner, I think it helps with the bad gas out there. I dont hold a lot of faith in snake oils but have been using this for a lot of years and never had a fuel related problem and no ping with lesser grades of fuel
 
What is your build? 91 octane should be ok for stock or phase 1 builds. Hotter days might be a golf club gathering (ping).
