Security system doesn't stay ON

I've noticed a couple of different times that the security system on my '05 Road King disarms itself if left alone for a couple of weeks(it's been colder than a well diggers hiney here). Shake the bike,.. nothing happens. Click the key fob,.. nothing happens. When I go to start the bike, everything works just as if the alarm was never set. Anyone ever experience this problem?
 
Some of the security systems have been known to disarm themselves when the voltage drops below11.8 Do you keep it on a battery tender?
 
I don't have it on a tender but it does fire right up without hesitation. Battery is 4 years and I've often thought about replacing it so I don't risk getting stranded..
 
After so many hours, I think it was 48, the system will shut itself down to save energy. Now granted this was on my 2008 Vespa.:p
