Reshaping the Nightster seat.

I have been thinking of shaving back about 2 inches off the backrest of the stock seat to sit back a little further. I was wondering if anyone has done this and if you were able stretch out and re-use the seat cover or if you needed to have it re-upholstered.
If so i was thinking of going with a dark leather cover for my nightster. so it should be a win win.
 
I did it for my 07 FLHT. I got an old one from the dealer (no charge!) same pan and cushion all in good condition, I shaved and added where I wanted then reupholstered with some black leather from Tandy leather. Had to be all custom designed but turned out great. Did it all myself for less than 100 bucks.
