Reserve Knob

Can you put reserve gas line on backwards. My bike was taken apart for paint and not sure if reserve was hooked up properly. Don't want to find out the hard way. Thank you

No. IF you have 2 lines at the petcock, one is a vacuum line to open the fuel flow (I don't know if 2000 XL's had this feature or not). The regular/reserve lever on the petcock should work as it did before painting. Regular and reserve fuel flows through the same line to the carb.
