Random Decrease in Voltage

With no warning I'm getting (while riding) random decrease in charging/voltage. Replaced the ignition switch because I was having issues with that before this started. Battery with no load is showing 13.5 V and with load 14.5. Runs fine then suddenly voltage drops to 7-10 V. Sputters for awhile then kicks back up to 14-14.5 runs fine for awhile then drops again.
Thinking it may be stator or voltage regulator, any ideas?

I had the same trouble and mine was the stator but don't rule out the regulater. I pulled my stator and it was obvious, burnt wire.
 
Pull the stator wires off the the regulator and test them for grounds. If no grounds test for AC voltage out put. You may want to check in the Self Help section for a proper test of the 3 phase system.
