primary tensioner wear

I just noticed when changing my primary fluid that my tensioner has about 1/16 or so wear. The bike has 28000 miles. Is this excessive? The chain is adjusted correctly.

The proper chain adjustment is 7/8" slack cold and 5/8" slack hot, a hydrualic tensioner eliminates the need to adjust the chain.

He means the wear pad and mentioned it is adjusted properly. At 28k there should be some wear on the pad and a 16th seems perfectly normal and not excessive. Remember, although it's constantly lubricated, it's still metal on plastic and is a serviceable wear item.

Sounds good to me. It will wear down that much just to get the sides of the chain down to where the rollers roll across it nicely.
