Primary Cover Installation

If you have removed the primary cover for service and are reinstalling it with a new gasket, a little trick that will help you out in holding the gasket in place is to cut the heads off two spare bolts and put one in the primary hole in the front by the compensator and one in the rear towards the back of the bike. Then you hang the gasket over the two bolts, slide on the outer cover over the bolts too and insert the rest of the bolts and finally remove the two that you inserted with the heads cut off and install the remaining two bolts and torque them all properly in the proper sequence. The proper torquing sequence is important to avoid warping the cover.

No fighting to hold things in place while inserting the bolts and less chance of damaging the gasket.
