Actually, I didn't run a wire through it, but should have. I beleive the vent line is what did freeze.
Where do the head breathers fit into your theory? They vent the crank case to eliminate the pressure build up.
Absolutely, and that is my point. The head breathers are the only point of relief in the system, and if they are blocked, in my case by moisture in the drain line freezing, the entire engine including the oil bag will be subjsct to significant pressure variations.
