Oil Cooler on 07 FXST

Does anyone know if I can hook my Oil Cooler up to the two NPT holes in
front of the oil filter instead of installing an adapter on the filter. It looks like the holes line up to the right parts of the oil system?

If you hook up there, you will bypass the filter completely making it inoperative. They are for machining purposes only.
