While taking out the battery on my '09 Sportie I noticed a wire with a rubber plug covering up a connection where some accessory must plug into. This connection was hooked to the metal strap which holds the battery in. Anyone have any idea what this connection might be used for?

    Thanks

Could also be where the dealer connects into the system for diagnostics. My softail has a plug like that near the battery where the dealer can pull codes, etc. from the electronics.

Thanks all! Called Harley and they said it was a hookup to the computer for diagnostics. Softtailhog was right. Can't stand that kind of a mystery.

Hi - I have a similar lead on my 2009 Softail Custom which turned out to be a battery charging lead.

Its a 12 volt power supply fused I belive to 7 amps?

You can use it for the battery tender too. Need a picture to be sure though.

    Oops, I could be wrong...
