ignition switch knob removal

Discussion in 'Touring Models' started by steel horse rider, Mar 30, 2014.

can anybody out there tell me how to remove the ignition switch knob on a 1992 electraglide classic flhtc i have been told by others repeatedly that there is a pin underneath it that you have to depress so it will come out but there is no pin on this particular switch knob. i once read somewhere and i dont remember where, but it said something about useing the key. hope someone out there can help me i need to service my front forks and i cant till i can remove this.

The 2 videos are for newer bikes. A '92 is a whole different ball game.

The 2 attachments in post #2 are from a 91/92 OEM service manual.

This bike should be the same set up as yours, The silver lock on the console has not changed much over the years, it is a compound switch/ fork lock
