Help with a 2003 road king issue

On my to work the other day and my speedometer went basically, red line and back. Then the check engine light popped on for about 20 seconds. After that everything went back to normal. Ride home, no problems. Is this just a fluke or is this a start of an electrical problem or a sensor problem or the speedometer.

Did it throw any codes? Refer to the self help section for retrieving codes.

I agree, check for codes, thats the first place to start. Then check connections, starting at the dash and work your way backwards.
 
Would something like debris covering the CPS for a moment give this type of problem?
 
If it's a momentary event would it trigger a code?
