Steve has you covered, when hot, the cylinders have more compression, the starter has a higher stall initial current load, so "usually" making sure the heavy primary wiring to the battery and starter connections have to be spotless...use a pocket knife to scrape shiny and coat with dielectric grease to prevent corrosion.
