FXR History

My first big Harley was a 1984 new Disc Glide which was an FXR rubber mount 5-speed chain drive with an all chrome engine . Very little vibration .In 1988 I bought a new FXR Low Rider and of all 5 of the Harley's I've owned that one was the smoothest most comfortable & fastest stock Harley of them all .
My 2002 Dyna Wide Glide I have now vibrates as much if not more that the 1985 4-speed kick start ridged mount Low Rider bought new back in 85 .
I should have NEVER sold that 88 FXR Low Rider . Best bike Harley EVER made in my humble opinion ! :newsmile08:

They changed the transmission to the splined main shaft in 91. Before that the FXR had a tapered shaft that was a problem. I replaced 6 clutch hubs in my 86 (bought her new) before trading her in on a 11 Dyna custom.

Picked up my '82 a few years back. Put a couple of hundred into her, and she's been running great ever since. I love my Ultra, but gotta admit, riding the FXR is an experience of it's own. Wouldn't trade her for anything...
