Fitting Kuryakyn Ergo Plus Engine Guards

I have just bought and am about to fit a set of Kuryakyn Ergo Plus Engine Guards for my 2009 Hertitage Softail FLSTC, can anyone tell me if I need to have a shortened brake pedal fitted or is the factory fitted one OK? I can remember reading something but can no longer find it.

Many thanks for the replies, yes I have ordered the KA - 7529 so hopefully the shortened pedal will turn up with it.
