    Hi all,

I'm attempting to adjust the preload on my 2002 FatBoy and although the posts and the service manual spell out the procedure quite nice, I can't figure out how to get my jackstand under there without either blocking my access to the retainig nuts or having it lifting on the shocks themselves. Does anyone know of a workaround for this or perhaps another way to access the the shocks without using a stand?

    Thanks

I've done it on the side stand with a pair of wrenches that were cut off enough to get a full swing without contacting the floor. You need the shock wrench also to do the job.

Good idea (the obvious ones usually are) I have the spanner ...and a Dremmel for cutting wrenches ... Looks like making custom tools is going to part of my Harley self maintenace routine. I already made my intake manifold stubby allen wrench. Maybe a nice thread of homemade/modified tools would be a great idea for reference.
