Will a 1997 EVO engine/transmission combo bolt into a 2003 FLHTCUI frame, without modifications to either?

The question is WHY?

The TC engine has many advantages over the EVO including the power they produce. Why would you want to go backwards?

I think it would be a direct bolt in, you will need to use your 97 wire harness and sta bo bushings in the swingarm.cause the 97 trans has a smaller swing arm shaft.

alot of riders prefer the sound of an evo over a twinky. at least around here they do. no timeing chain is another plus. most will just purchase an aftermarket engine whick I think is base more off the evo platform but have the power that the evo lacks.
