Had starter rebuilt and installed new battery, old was weak.
Put new ground cable to starter and engine ground. Starter still kicking out and in.
Getting voltage drop at starter solenoid green wire from 10 to 5 volts when cranking.
Any ideas???
With the negative voltmeter probe touching the negative post on the battery, and the positive probe touching the solenoid terminal you should read system voltage while cranking.
If you are seeing a voltage drop here, it indicates a high resistance somewhere in the path between the battery and the solenoid terminal.
Clean the connections at the solenoid terminal and the starter relay terminals.
Perform voltage drops with negative probe touching negative battery post, and the positive probe touching these locations (while cranking):
Green wire terminal at starter solenoid.
Green wire terminal at starter relay.
Red/Grey terminal at starter relay.
Let us know what the voltages are at each location.
Note: it is best if the probe touches the terminal on each component, not the terminal on the wire, but it may not be possible depending on how confined the area is.
