Derby Cover torque specs

what idiot wrote the HD service manual ?
They list the drain plug tightening specs as 14-30 ft-lbs and then on the next page following the sequence of events in transmission servicing they have you tightening the Derby cover to 84-108 in-lbs (INCH POUNDS), good grief
Thank the Lord I didn't wring them off :newsmile071:

My 2009 service manual says the same spec. 84-108 in/lbs.
To be honest, I don't think I ever used a torque wrench on the derby cover. I have a feel good calibration for those bolts.:)

I've only snugged them down when doing a service, probably much lower than the recommended torque they give for that application.

I am guilty of not using a torque wrench on mine i just tighten them till it feels enough and i do use the smaller tools when doing it
