I'm riding from Chicago to St Louis this weekend. Outside of taking US 55 south, does anyone have a alt route? Thanks

The fastest road is mostly not the nicest one. It makes more fun to drive between the major roads. Nice people, small villages and some interesting views is what makes me like biking.

to many questions to ask - not enough info here! are you in a hurry, site seeing,2-up or a "run&gun" get there and back type of ride??? You could take I-57 out of Chi. to 54 at Onarga/Gilman( just south of hwy 24) head S.W. to Louisiana , Mo and then turn S. on 61 and head toward St. Louis, Or if interstate is your deal - you could do I-57 all the way to Effingham,Ill and grab I-70 and roll into town Or if --- see what I mean!!! Just remember to pack rain suits and warm clothes - they are talking snow flurries here Sat. nite / Sunday AM!!! Also watch the low areas, wave after wave of rain since last Thurs rolled across.

Just a quick note here. Doc's Harley Davidson in Kirkwood is having their fall open house this Saturday if your intrested.

Welcome to Doc's Harley-Davidson

you gonna be there?.. if so just look for a Black and Chrome 04 road king with the Marine Corp emblem on the Fairing ..come up and introduce yourself....i also have the covers with the Marine Corp emblems ..ya can't miss my bike...i don't think...lol Hope to see ya there..if it warmer would love to go on a colors ride..maybe Sunday..lol

If you have the time drive Route 52 over to Savanna, Il. eat at Poopy's then follow the Mississppi river down to St Louis. The Mississppi is a great ride lots of twisty roads both sides. Also if you like Casino's you can stop and stay at many of those along the way. There is a place called Catfish Bay in Burlington IA Casino and resort thats fun. Just be carefull at night as the deer tend to run after dark.
