I've got a 91 Ultra and was riding home the other night when voltage dropped to below 8 had usually been around 13. any suggestions on what went wrong and how to fix it? Thanks

The guys above have you covered. I would bet your stator is fried. Open up the derby cover and take a sniff. If it smells burnt, that is it. As a note, I would suggest changing BOTH the stator and the voltage regulator if that is what the problem is.

Your really going to need the factory schematics & a multimeter to test & fix your problem. I have the '04 touring schematic but I would not trust it to fix an '01. I have found from year to year there can be many different and major changes.

Hoop, he's got a 1991, not a 2001. I would imagine there are huge differences in the electrics between those two!
