another VIN question

so here's one:

I have a 2001 Softail, recently I was asked if the bike was pre or post 9/11.

The VIN numbers are all ok regarding year and model,
I was curious if you could tell the production date
from the serial number at the end.. it is 022231.

Any way to check, or should I try the moco itself ?
and who to call over there ? :s

wow.. gulp :unsure

no serious reason, just a few guys sitting around (EDIT) about
this and that. We got on to the ages of the bikes and as soon
as I said an '01, a guy popped out the question, and I couldnt answer
him. Got me a little curious.

We were also talking about that 747 flying low over NYC a couple of days
ago, that might have prompted the reference.

Most Europeans still dont get it.
