883 won't start

Thanks I hope all is good for all out there I need some help my grandsons 883! Harley won't start it has gas and spark and turns over but won't start any idea on what the problem is

What year is it? I assume we are talking carburetor, not fuel infected. When you say "has gas", did you look into the throat of carb to see gas squirt when pumping throttle?

On my sporty prior to starting I open the fuel tap and snap the throttle open a few times to allow the accelerator pump to squirt some fuel into the throat of the carb and allows for easier starting
Later sportsters with a carb also have a vacuum operated fuel tap therefore the engine has to be turned over a few times to create a vacuum to allow fuel to fill the float bowl once the float bowl is full then snap the throttle open a few times
All done with the choke knob pulled out
If sportster is 2007 or later it is fuel injection and another matter altogether
