86 FXR Oil Problem

The oil in my 86 FXR collects in the sump when is sets for a while, when it is started the oil gets puked out on the floor, any ideas?

If I remember correctly there's a check valve, a ball bearing in the oil pump that is suppose to be directional, opens one way and closes the other. If the bearing or the seat that it rests on become worn oil will leak back into the crank and puke it to the floor when you fire up the bike.
