03 fatboy eng. light comes on then off.

Hi all,I have a 03 fatboy,when i start it ,It runs for about 20 seconds then the engine light comes on then it gos off after about 10 seconds,and some times it comes on while driving down the road,gos off after awhile. the bike runs fine,all i did is change the oil and filter and the spark plugs and tires. Please help.

One common cause, considering your input, would be the crank position sensor. Many folks damage them when removing their oil filters, using a tool. Due to proximity, the tool can apply excessive pressure to the sensor, causing intermittent faults.

The light is telling you that a DTC code has been logged. Pull the codes and see what ECM is trying to tell you.
