Tyre Wear

Guys, I have a 2007 FLHRCI with 2117 miles on the clock. I intend to ride over to Italy in the summer for a 7 / 10 days which will probably be a round trip of 3000 - 3200 miles. Question is, what sort of mileage should I expect to see out of the present set before they need replaced? I don't really intend to hit much over 80mph during the trip and I will be riding solo with full luggage.

Re: Tyre Wear

You can expect about 10 thousand out of the rear and usually almost twice that out of the front tire if you keep check on tire pressures. There are exceptions to every rule here depending on riding style and load.

Generally 2 rears to one front is the way it works out.

Re: Tyre Wear

Thanks guys, not quite used to how these bikes eat & drink yet, so hopefully this trip should help me learn a lot about the bike. The good ol HOG Recovery is always there to call on (just in case)

Re: Tyre Wear

i got about 10k out of my first rear. have 10k on the rear now and it looks like it'll last maybe another 2-3k. front has over 20k. if it hasn't been replaced by the time i need a new rear, i'll do it then...

Not sure what I doing right or differently but
07 Road glide has 14,000 on tires and not ready to be replaced yet. I check air often
I know darn well if they were even close the dealer would be pointing it out
Now my FB does not do so well on rear tires I ride it a bit harder

Re: Tyre Wear

I too have about 14000 miles on my Road Glide and the tires are still going strong. I frequently check air pressure and don't hold back when I ride. Now my Deuce needed new tires at 9000 miles... go figure!

Re: Tyre Wear

i have to ask but do you guys not have a legal tread depth required on your tires?
we do and its £1500 fine and 3 points added to our already endangered licenses if we have less than 2mm of visible tread over 75% of the tire its illegal this means safely we can get max 9000 miles from our tires and sports bike boys get around 5K

Must be Road glides

I am one that would not take a chance on tires if they were even close I would replace.
On my cars I put nitrogen in the tires it does make them run cooler and last longer.
I have been thing about trying it on the bikes.
