Is it worth the $
I bought a 03 V-Rod that has Samson pipes and everything else stock as far as power goes. There is no fuel management on it currently. What are the power gains or inversely engine damage possible from not putting on a fuel management upgrade.
Also, what is the best one for what I have...Power Commander?? Anybody have used stuff?? |

Re: Is it worth the $
are the pipes a full system or a just a slip on?
Depending on what else has been done that you cannot see it may have had the ECU flashed by a dealer to cope with the pipes. Does it has a upgraded filter in the stock housing? If its just running the pipes with stock air box and ECU flashed it would be ok if its just the pipes and nothing else it will be lean - long term effects are burnt valves and holes in pistons and i mean long term - do not rush out and buy fueler just on this statement. Why are you querying the need for a fueler does it back fire? run rough? splutter? surge?

Re: Is it worth the $
I believe the pipes are slip on and the air filter, etc are all stock.
It ran poorly when I bought it so I drained all of the fuel knowing that it was at least a year old and topped it up with good stuff. I went for a real short run and it was a new bike again. The weather has been too poor to try it out. The whole thing just got my gears turning on what it has and what it needs. Thanks for the reply. |

Re: Is it worth the $
if the pipes are Slip ons you will more than likely be fine as Porsche know exactly how to build hybrid water/air motors and fuel them correctly

Re: Is it worth the $
you need a race tuner or power commander, my friends Vrod had a spark plug blow inside the engine, dont ask me how, we were racing me and him and suddenly, gets a short and the engine sounded wierd. We took it to the dealer, they brought a specialist to figure out why the spark plug blew up and dammaged the engine, as everything on it was original HD to every ones shock. The specialist told us that the reason was he changed the pipes but didnt use any tuning for the engine like power commander .
