tread direction

I just put on new tires, with the arrows in the correct direction but noticed the tread is opposite direction between the front and rear. The rear as the tread reaches the road the groves run from center out and opposite on the front tire. Out to in. Why is this?

Re: tread direction

the front tread follows the rotation for stability and grip in corners, the rear the opposite for stability and grip to drive the bike forward.

Re: tread direction

And I always thought the tread patterns were there to direct water away from the tire to help avoid hydroplane. Thanks alot, I learned something today. P.S. thanks for the quick reply

Re: tread direction

no probs, regardless of tread direction it will squeeze water away to prevent the hydroplane effect when in water.
