My 2005 se v-rod is making a rattling noise.service manual points to cam chain tensioner needing to be shimmed, which requires a measuring tool that hd doesnt sell to the public, any remedies?

I look it up in the book and it's definitly a special tool. No way to make one without the dimentions. Check back next week and I see what i can find out.

I just finished putting in new cams in my 08 Vrod , I did not need any special tool for the install ,the only tool that I can think of that it might be is a Tappet compression tool, but you really can get along with out this tool when checking your shim clearance ,but you will need a 45% set of feeler gauges ,Flat style feelers will not give you a accurate mesurment.,also take a good look at your cam profiles for pit or wear marks, Since your going in you might want to look at the new upgraded cam kit for the Vrods from the Moco , Im very pleased with the results for the $ vs HP TQ gain.
