I dunno Bro...I have no right to speak for you, but my sense is those things are for the younger guys....I rode one a couple years ago and found it QUITE uncomfortable....and I gotta tell ya, if you don't feel right on a Sporty, (and I know you don't), I don't think a V-Rod would be a great fit either!

Have you ridden one? They are NOT what we are used to....AT ALL.

A V-Rod doesn't feel anything like a sporty, they are a completly different animal altogether.Riding that one in the fall kinda reminded me of my 1100 Katana,in the bursts, not the posture

You're right...NOTHING like a Sporty...not what I meant...just that they aren't comfortable, as you have mentioned about the Sportster.

I rode one a couple of years ago and found it quite ergonomic, much to my surprise. Don't get me wrong, it felt small under me, but everything was in the right spot. It has some get-up-and-go too. I would consider one if the right deal came around.....but not to replace my bagger!

Lew, you're a big guy, but I think I'm taller than you...maybe that's why I didn't find it ergonomic......I always feel better when I can sink in and lean back a little, which I couldn't do so well on the V-Rod.

It's definately not a lean back kind of bike for me. If I had one, it would be for the power, and a turbo would likely be added!

I have a 'lean back' bike that works quite well! And you do too!

I have an '07VROD w/240mm rear. I love it. It definitely isn't a bagger replacement, bit I didn't buy it to be a bagger. There are quite a few folks that have modded the V to be a bagger or even an all out glide style bike. Me, I'm a purist. I got it for the style, power, and function. I've ridden from PA to Virgina Beach and was very comfortable the entire way. (forward controls) The other great thing is that even if it's 100 degrees outside it still performs perfect!

I love my 08. Got it last summer and it is a awsome bike. The fit for me is perfect with forward the controls. It is so much much fun in the twistys and it does not have a problem keeping up with the other sport bikes. The balance and handling is great!! It never get hot either. It is hard to imagine how comfortable 100mph is, while 100mph on my 84 FXR is a white knuckle ride.
