Removing Stripped Bolts From Derby Cover - 994 days old
This problem arises because most torx kits do not come with a #27 bit in them and a #25 is used by mistake. They must be purchased seperately.
Easiest way to eliminate this problem is to use the #27 Torx bit to remove these fasteners, while many use a #25 by mistake, it fits sloppy and usually ends up striping the head of the bolt, but... Read more

Belt Adjustment - 232 days old
Proper belt tension is important on any belt drive bike. If it is too loose, it can whipsaw and break a belt. Too tight and it can damage bearings in the trans and/or wheel. It can also shorten the life of the belt if not properly adjusted and make odd noises too.
Harley makes a tool that is used to set the belt at the proper tension... Read more

Primary Oil Leak Migration - 308 days old
Many have stated that they have an oil leak dripping off the primary drain plug and ask what can be done to eliminate it.
If the "O" ring is OK on the drain plug of the newer model or the older type with the NPT thread isn't the problem, I would clean the inner primary area thoroughly and run the engine. Some times the leak is... Read more

Primary Oil (synthetic) - 684 days old
Synthetic oil or "energy conserving " dino oil in the primary is not a good choice here in big twins. They contain friction modifiers and a clutch with some miles on it could be prone to slippage from using these oils.
The synthetic oils are a great choice for the engine as they will reduce friction between the moving parts, this... Read more
