Isolated Drive System

Lots of talk about the 07 bikes with the transmission noises that sounds like clatter or as some put it "can of marbles".

It happens in 5th and 6th gears on most bikes primarily baggers because of the fairings reflecting the noise back at the rider and weight of these bikes also compared...

the bearing in my post is the sprocket/pulley bearing. Basically when you open the IDS kit box, there's a new sprocket/pully and a new bearing.....why the sprocket/pully does not come with the new bearing already installed is beyond me.

Make sure to find out if the new rims will accept the IDS pulley. Some aftermarket rims don't.

Re: IDS Drive System

Wife has a 2002 Heritage Softail. Had the 1550 kit put in. Been noisy from the beginning especially in 5th gear. Has 29k on bike. Would IDS system be a fit for her bike? thanks, I'm glad I found this site.

Re: IDS Drive System

That's a NO GO on the softails. Only on 07 baggers. The later year baggers came from the factory with the unit.
